A small Texas city near Austin is about to vote on a policy that may prevent Christian groups from sponsoring Christmas parades, according to the conservative group Texas Values.
The policy, listed as Agenda Item #13 on the agenda for the Dec. 8, 2022, meeting of the city council in Taylor, Texas, stipulates what kind of groups can cosponsor events alongside the city. The guidelines require nonprofit organizations to allow people who identify as LGBT on their boards and in the document, the city reserves the right to reject sponsorships for a variety of reasons, including on the basis that organizations “represent religions or political views.”
“Bowing to radical ‘woke’ ideology seems out of place in a small town like Taylor where past parades have focused on Jesus’ birth,” Jonathan Covey, director of policy at Texas Values, told The Daily Signal in a statement on Thursday. “People here celebrate Christ during Christmas and don’t want the city council to harm churches and people of faith by passing this SOGI [sexual orientation and gender identity policy]. All they want for Christmas is their constitutional right of religious freedom.”
The city did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment by press time.
Texas Values sounded the alarm over two particular areas of the “Guidelines” for “Requesting City Co-Sponsorship of Special Events,” which begins on page 269 of the agenda document.

Need to sponsor Gospel proclamation parades.
Well religion is protected in the bill of rights. Homo is not. This thing is not American. Satan reigns.
The Grinch must be the Mayor.
Taylor held its “Very Merry Holiday Parade” Dec 3, all were welcome.
Texas City is near Houston. And Taylor isn't at city - less than 20,000 residents.
Near Austin. Enuff said.
looked them up and there are 5 , Mayor/council ,LOL I think it’s them
I wish the headline writers would research a bit more. This is not happening in Texas City, which is a city in Texas. It is happening in Taylor, Texas.
......and we keep falling deeper into the pit.
“Texas City is near Houston. And Taylor isn’t at city - less than 20,000 residents.”
So they brought out their float, bicycle rider, 3 horses, (and a street cleaner, and drove down their one block main street. Voila! A parade.

Guessing it’s not Corpus Christi...
They probably used ‘Texas City’ meaning ‘a city in Texas’ as they didn’t know there IS a Texas City. At least that would be my assumption. ;-)
Some interesting background on this event.
A Small Texas City Gets a Drag-Queen Parade for Christmas
When townspeople objected, municipal staffers short-circuited the democratic process.
...These civic and cultural battles are sure to become more frequent and more intense. For those who simply want to work, worship God and raise their families in peace, this news is unwelcome. I sympathize. But communities can’t remain strong if they are unwilling to defend common sense and get involved in the political process. Politics can’t be left to the experts.
They would have to rename the city first, wouldn’t they?
The democrat party is a terrorist organization.
“Need to sponsor Gospel proclamation parades.”
Amen to that!
“Xmas” (I refuse to attach Christ’s name to the modern mercantile fest) has been appropriated by unbelievers and satanists.
I haven’t participated in a couple of decades. Try it. Your budget will thank you for it. We do walk around colonial Williamsburg then grab some chinese food afterwards.... and NO I haven’t seen the movie, just that partucilar scene after a few years of hearing about it... but the chinese restaurants we frequent are much much nicer than the trough featured in the movie.
Try it, no more Unholiday and dinner fuss like the old days.
Pretty obviously unconstitutional but it shows how unserious and unprofessional our institutions have become.
.....lol, some group of local liberals, numbering about 5, met at the Dairy Queen with their buddy who got elected to the City Council. The council person is a cook at Burger King and marxist at heart.
I imagine that with not much arm twisting, the Burger King Cook agreed to put this bs on the Agenda. I know Taylor. I lived 20 miles south of it for 17 years. People there are conservative and probably a majority are hard working Hispanics. This agenda item might not even make it to a Council Meeting. I bet it get’s scrubbed Monday!
They would!
