Yup, I agree. It's the first thing I thought of, probably because it reflects the irresponsibility of our time. Who knows if this guy didn't have this song running in his head when he ran out on his family.

As an OTR trucker, a guy hears stuff over the cb while going down the road, or in a truckstop. Sitting in the truck the parking lot becomes a neighborhood of conversation. (Much of it is subject to being doubted.)

I remember a driver lamenting his leaving his wife and kids. He referred to that song as part of the ‘freedom’ mindset he thought he needed. Iirc, he said he came to his senses after the mindset wore off (don’t remember the details. You hear a lot of broken marriage stories in that business). I think his ex remarried, and was happy.
