Ejecting out of a jet at night, I think I’d be more worried about steering the parachute toward a safe landing area.
Depends on the altitude, from 1000 or 1200 feet there isn’t much time, especially in a mass jump when you are dodging other jumpers, scanning the ground for trees, roads, water, fences, buildings, etc., but alone and from a higher altitude, sure.

SERE training is automatic, peacetime or wartime., but I think this guy was in his home territory defending against drone attacks, not in hostile territory.
