Misleading headline. There are two major Orthodox denominations in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is under the Patriarch of Moscow. His name is Kirill and he is tight with Putin and a big fan of the war. It alone was outlawed. The other Orthodox denomination is the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. It is under the Patriarch of Kiev. It was not outlawed. So, this move by Zelensky was a political move, not primarily an anti- religious move. He certainly didn’t “outlaw Orthodox Christianity”. Ok, so he’s just banning Russian language services. Sounds good to me. So just ethnic cleansing, sounds like a plan!

Thanks for your clarification. I met Patriarch Filaret some years back when he was head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church before it split off.
