Would this be considered a ‘with cause’ firing? If so, no unemployment.

But, the union is sitting on a pile of money - they need to cough it up for them.

Since Twitter was not their primary employer they don't owe them a thing but it also wasn't a firing for cause. All Twitter did was end a contract with the company that hired them. The contracting company has the option of moving them to other contracts but if that isn't an option then it'll let them go and they can collect unemployment.
