I remember in my teen years going Greyhound and sitting in the smoking section in the back of the bus with a heavy machine operator from Texas. I smoked at the time. I’ll never forget his words for unions during our conversation: “I’d rather hold my mother down while a dog f@#$ed her than join on of them f@#$ing unions.” I gathered that he didn’t care much for his mother during the course of our conversation. So the statement is somewhat equivocal, since he left it up in the air whether that was in revenge on his mother, or to emphasize his dislike for unions, or both. You used to meet interesting people on Greyhounds in those days.
