Elon Musk said that Twitter's former Deputy General Counsel Jim Baker was "exited" from the company on Tuesday after revelations about his role in the platform's handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Baker was involved in discussions about whether the laptop falls under Twitter's "hacked materials" policy.
"I support the conclusion that we need more facts to assess whether the materials were hacked," Baker wrote in one email chain. "At this stage, however, it's reasonable for us to assume that they may have been and that caution is warranted."
Baker was responding to a Twitter executive who was wondering whether they could "truthfully claim" that the laptop story was "part of the policy."
Before joining Twitter, Baker worked as general counsel at the FBI, where he was involved in the bureau's investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
Taibbi said Tuesday that he and another journalist, Bari Weiss, were dealing "with obstacles to new searches" when Weiss discovered that Baker was responsible for releasing the files over the weekend.
"The news that Baker was reviewing the 'Twitter files' surprised everyone involved, to say the least," Taibbi tweeted.

Has anyone suggested that Baker may have tweaked the contents of The “ Twitter Files” before he was canned?
He had time.
Except it isn't. He was caught leaking and allowed to resign instead of facing disciplinary action. Which, it's a bad look for the General Counsel for the FBI to be "under heavy manners".
He "resigned" on the same day as Lisa Page - another person who was going to be put through the ringer if she stayed, and probably eventually fired like her boyfriend and co-conspirator Peter Strzok was, but instead, they resigned.
Having worked at a high level in Corportate America I can tell you that such "near firings" are pretty common, and one of the things that is routine is to present or leak it in such a way that the smell of the manure sticks to the person "resigning".
For intance: A big restatement of earnings due to fraudulent accounting are announced in the same press release as the CEO "resigning". Everyone knows what that means.
So when Baker was lumped together with the most visible nut-and-slut of Russiagate, Lisa Page, that wasn't a "coincidence", that was a permanent marker being applied by someone skilled in the FBI. (Maybe even a hidden patriot, sick of the place but waiting to retire or something.)

It's very hard to destroy information from systems that are managed by other systems (corporate eamail system provided by Bluehost, Ionos, Web.com for instance) that are designed to have the ability to restore lost data, and are not designed to have a "purge" function.

If I were a betting Rebel.... I believe the powers that be probably had him under close watch to see what he might be getting rid of. they knew full well he was there.

I stopped watching Varney for six months after the 2020 election. Then I came back. Then Varney started harping against investigating fraudulent elections and then Trump to the point of ad nausium. Very disappointing to say the least. I can’t even stand watching Kudlow now. Folks, the Calvary is not coming.

If the Democrat Party Cabal (DPC) tried to steal every individual race at every level across the nation, it would be too obvious: Say like 90% of Democrat politicians won their 2020 political races, and only 10% of Republicans won. Instead, the DPC focused on winning the White House, Senate, and House in 2020.
The DPC (which includes all RINOs) did whatever it took to block and prevent President Trump from a second term. Recently, the Twitter CEO Elon Musk said that Twitter, before he acquired it, "obviously" had "interfered in elections." Musk released Twitter's internal documents showing that the Sleepy Joe Presidential Campaign ordered Twitter to censor any tweets reflecting poorly on Sleepy Joe's candidacy (and Twitter eagerly complied by censoring all those tweets). Stolen Election.
Even today, the DPC is still obsessed with stopping President Trump from a second term in 2024. That's why you see endless government investigations of President Trump, endless lawsuits against President Trump and his Trump Organization, endless class actions against President Trump's companies, endless yelling that Trump-voting Republicans are an extremely dangerous "threat to American democracy," etc. The President Trump-hating Democrat Party Cabal will never stop ... as long as the possibility exists that President Trump or any of his children are considered serious candidates for the Presidency.
The career Republican political consultant, RINO Rick Wilson, was a political consultant for RINO George Bush, and in 2019 he co-founded the "Lincoln Project" (a cabal of fellow RINOs) whose sole mission and obsession was to destroy the hugely successful & hugely popular President Trump's political career, regardless of the will of American voters. For years, RINO Rick Wilson has been and is still going on the extreme-left CNN & extreme-left MSNBC (and other extreme-left Democrat-controlled MSM political "news" shows) relentlessly bashing President Trump, calling him every ugly and nasty name you can possibly imagine that can still make it on-air without bleeping.
On one particular MSNBC political "news" segment (just a day before the 2020 so-called "Election Day"), the far-left MSNBC political "news" host, Nicolle Wallace, excitedly said to RINO political consultant Rick Wilson: "... Your unyielding, unrelenting ass-kicking of Donald Trump and his children and everything about his presidency that was so screwed up" (as Wallace, RINO Rick Wilson, and two other far-left guests all chuckled and smirked), "what is [your] closing kick in the teeth [against President Trump] from your Lincoln Project?" Here's how the career RINO consultant Rick Wilson responded to her question: "We're seeing that Democrat voters are coming out on election day, even after already having kicked his ass in early voting ... [President Trump] blew up the economy, he's a narcicist lunatic, [voters] are done! ... they are determined to push this man out of office ... it might be a cataclysm for the GOP."
Nope, extreme-left RINO Rick Wilson, it wasn't American voters that were "determined to push [the hugely successful & hugely popular President Trump] out of office," it was extreme-left RINOs (such as Rick Wilson) and extreme-left Democrats, forming the Democrat Party Cabal who were not merely "determined," they were and are extremely obsessed with destroying the Trump name and President Trump's political career. And they'll go so far as to steal Presidential elections to do it. When you steal the U.S. Presidential election, you can literally steal any election you want. Amirite, Democrat Party Cabal? That never-ending demonstrably false claim by the DPC proves my long-held viewpoint yet again: Democrats/RINOs perpetrate extremely bad things against the U.S. (e.g., 2020 Stolen Election), and then falsely blame Republicans for doing what the Democrats/RINOs themselves have already perpetrated against the United States. (Democrat/RINO hypocrites.)
Maybe I'm wrong but stealing the U.S. Presidential election sure sounds like a "threat to American democracy."
