While I decry the ethics of these surgeries in general, she knew what she was doing. Suing the folks who gave her what she asked for is not going to go well, imho.

Morally, you may be correct. However, many medical malpractice claims are based upon the "lack of informed consent." Thus, the health care workers may be liable if they encouraged this person to have mutilation surgery without first addressing the underlying mental health issues. In other words, the person would not have consented to the surgery if she had been told that desire to cut off her breasts and pretend to be a male may be the result of a mental health issue that can be treated without irreversible mutilation surgery.
