They were two different sentences. To take you back to 1st grade, each sentence has an independent thought.
So what’s this have to do with whether free speech is a Christian value?
So Freedom of Speech is a god given right. It would reflect poorly on Christians to deny that right to people just as it would be to deny a person the right to self-defense.
It would certainly be un-Christian to deny a persons God given rights- the right to life, right to free speech, and right to self defense, would it not?
The question on the table was:
Is Free Speech a Christian Value?
Please don’t go wandering off topic about human rights. That is another topic for another thread.
Christian value or not, its not christ like to deny a person rights granted by Christ. Thats all i am saying.
If you insist, I’m quite willing to argue that Christian freedom of speech is conditional and depends largely on one’s competence to opine on a given subject. No one has a right in Christ to adhere to falsehood. By extension, no one has a right to adhere to an opinion one’s not reasonably able to regard as worthy of belief because of its source or the competence of those who vouch for it. Conscience is a judgment of reason, not a reflection of one’s sentiments and inclinations. “Because I feel it deeply and sincerely” is not competence. Most of the people you meet have no moral right to speech about a great many things. A great many.
Their certainly is limitations to freedom of speech for Christian. Perjury, slander, incitement to violence is all forbidden in the ten commandments and has made its way into law as it should.
Any other speech, even if contrary to Christian beliefs is protected speech. And to deny such speech is to try to suppress ones God- given right of free will.
Protected by civil law perhaps, but sooner or later you will have to choose between God and Caesar. Liberal democracy recognizes a right to profess a false religion. Americans believe this because their DNA is liberal dissenting Protestantism. But it’s false.
Yes between god and caesar. The church cannit coerce you. Yes at one time the church and state were joined at the hip. If you went against the church and or its teachings you were branded a heretic and handed over to the state to be burned at the stake. Catholics and protestants did that.
Both now realize that was not appropriate, as did our founding fathers.
Hallelujah, Vladimir!
He ain’t Putin us on with this move.
No fan of Putin, but this is a very positive development for the overall world. See my tagline for more.
I truly appreciate the truth graphics on this. I just watched commercial about a communication tool for autistics, that shows graphics for emotional states. We need one for grooming.
Commenting, so I can watch these videos later.
OMG! You support pedophilia and grooming.
