I have examples of a few instances of things which make me ashamed of my country:
- The diplomatic recognition by the USA of the Soviet Union 1933 knowing full well they were starving people to death.
- The betrayal of Draža Mihailović in Yugoslavia by the USA.
- Under Operation Keelhaul, the repatriation of all Soviet POWs back to the Soviet Union, knowing full well they were destinied for imprisonment or death.
- The betrayal of Chaing Kai-Shek by the USA in favor of Mao Tse Tung.
To these examples, I must add the imprisonment of the January 6th Protesters.

Add to that the OAS repeatedly dismissing several overtures by a certain Ho Chi Minh around 1945, who, quoting Jefferson, declared Vietnam independent.
Asking for help from both Truman and Eisenhower administrations, he and his movement were callously ignored by our state department, and France was returned to its prewar oppressive ways in Viet Nam.
Discouraged by this, Ho Chi Minh approached the communists for help with his movement.
The rest I believe you know about.

THE biggest permanent burr in my saddle.
Just think of all the crime, death and destruction globally due
solely
to that one act of betrayal to our most dedicated ww2 ally.
