In Ukraine’s capital, Putin’s attacks don’t dim the resolve to fight Russia

KYIV, Ukraine — War and winter have brought new misery to Kyiv after a long summer lull. Russia’s missile campaign to destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has revived fears that had abated after Ukrainian forces drove Russian troops away from the capital in the spring.

The first snowfall of the season has brought subzero temperatures to a city plunged into darkness and cold by the attacks.

But if Russian President Vladimir Putin’s goal is to demoralize the population to the point of accepting compromises with Russia, he isn’t succeeding. The danger and discomfort appear only to be hardening attitudes, deepening the resolve to keep fighting, according to interviews with Kyiv residents.

yeah it's Bezos' comPost, feel free to shoot the messenger but that doesn't change reality - when putin assumed that Ukrainians would passively accept being reabsorbed into his new russian empire, he badly miscaluclated. Ukrainians are not russian, they are not a cowed herd of sheep just looking for their next bottle of vodka like most of his own subjects.

Not surprising that the left-wing “news” media supports the regime in Kiev.

It’s more important that the Ukrainian public supports the regime.

Would you rather they support the Russians? Maybe that would help the Russians in their difficulties.

Far too much mind reading in these articles. No one has any reason to believe Putin had any demoralizing intention.

More likely, the intention is to kill as many enemy troops as possible, but that would be mind reading, too. Better articles would be careful profiling of cemetery capacity.

Ukraine is a corrupt state with US politicians laundering money through it. No need for US money to prop up a corrupt state.

Ukraine is a corrupt state.

And the Ukrainians know it. They've witnessed it their whole life. The smarter and better looking ones that could get out of there, did. Those that stayed, looted the shopping malls at the first opportunity. Why would an impoverished Ukrainian fight to their death to protect a corrupt borderland? Does Eastern Ukraine think they have the moral high ground in this Western-funded suicidal ideological war? Do Biden & Son think they doom poor Ukrainian and Russian soldiers with clean hands? When will Soros order the time-out?

Let's see what happens when the electric grid is completely taken out.

This war could end tomorrow if Ukraine agrees to leave the four new regions of the Russian Federation alone and remain neutral.

We all know that won't happen, though, because this is NATO proxy war against Russia and Ukraine has no control over its fate even if that means 100,000 more Ukrainians have to die and what's left of Ukraine is completely destroyed.

Being part of the "liberal world order" has its consequences.

But remember the west says Ukraine is a democracy...

“Zelensky has confirmed, Orthodox Christianity will be outlawed in Ukraine. Practitioners to face “personal, economic, and restrictive sanctions”.”

It doesn’t take mind rereading to understand Putin’s intentions. You don’t kill enemy troops fighting on the front lines by bombing civilian electricity production across the country.

The only plausible goal is to freeze the population into submission. Putin’s fans here on FR know it too, as the have been openly applauding Russia’s attempt to turn out the lights and to freeze the Ukrainians in the middle of winter.

NorseViking is a perfect example of support for this genocidal barbarity with his call for Putin to hit even harder.

Inside Bakhmut frontline 'littered with corpses' and 'colossal' losses

The Ukrainian commander of the Svoboda battalion, Petro Kuzyk, whose unit is one of those holding Bakhmut said his soldiers are staying in trenches full of corpses, fighting in extremely cold conditions and in knee-deep water against Russia's attacks.

... "I apologise for speaking slowly now, because I'm very cold – it's making me dizzy. I've now left the first line (since I was called). I'm warming up in the car, I'm almost falling asleep, because I haven't slept all this time. They charged yesterday, quite seriously. They felt a weakness in our defence, because (I will not name the numbers of the units, so as not to spoil their honour) there are units that are less motivated than ours. And yesterday they weakened our defence a little in the area just around the Bakhmut. Some units could not withstand this artillery onslaught and retreated.

###

Aside from HIMARS Ukraine's front artillery has become smaller with less reach than those systems used on the other side. That will make it easier to counter it. Ukraine also has an acute lack of ammunition for those few weapons that still exist. It has long lost the artillery war.

The war in Ukraine is waged on an industrial level. But the 'west' and its Ukrainian proxy are not prepared for industrial warfare.

Ukraine and NATO allies facing 'major issue' amid heavy fight against Russian forces

A retired US general has pinpointed a "major issue" for NATO as the West look to keep up with ammo demands as fighting in Ukraine continues to eat up Western stockpiles.

Ukraine is burning through ammunition and shells at a faster rate than the West can maintain according to retired US Air Force Colonel Cedric Leighton.

The former commander believes that NATO lacks the industrial base to replace depleted stockpiles and Ukraine continues to demand ammunition to use against Russian forces.

Mr Leighton told CNN: "The defence industrial base of all these countries, the NATO countries in Europe as well as the United States it is really not built for this kind of war.

Yet another lie from you, Orthodox Christianity is not being banned in Ukrainian. The proposed law only affects the Kremlin-aligned Russian Orthodox Church, which represents only 4% of the Ukrainian population. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church and other branches Orthodox Christianity would not be affected. And before you decry the discrimination against the Russian church, can you tell me how many parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are allowed in Russia?

Against the globohomopedos??

Absolutely. reveal the truth of who is behind Ukraine... but that would involve journalism and not production of propaganda.

Russia is no threat to the USA.
