Police on Thursday reaffirmed that the grisly killings of four University of Idaho students were part of a "targeted attack" the day after authorities appeared to suggest the opposite.
“We remain consistent in our belief that this was indeed a targeted attack but have not concluded if the target was the residence or its occupants,” a spokesperson for the Moscow Police Department told NBC News.
Authorities have released conflicting statements since Madison Mogen, 21; Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and her boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20, were found fatally stabbed at an off-campus home in Moscow on Nov. 13.
The slayings — described by a local coroner as one of the most “gruesome” she had ever seen — have left the victims’ families and the public with many questions.

They were targeted, IMHO, but by who?
m
there is no chance someone went into that house and stabbed 4 people to death and didn’t leave any evidence.
Someone knows something
I thought I heard that one of the girls had a stalker.
The Uvalde and Moscow P.D.s are proof that allowing the criminals to talk the jackass politicians into defunding and cutting back the police departments really wasn’t a good idea. It definitely didn’t bring George Floyd back from the dead.
Could be politics or avoidance of the "correct narrative" here, with the killer being non-white; black, muslim, hispanic..
Is this a lib town or conservative area? Any of the deceased have political ties leaning right?
COULD BE MORE THAN ONE KILLER.. Easier to take out four with two people.
Killer who is OBSESSED with Charlie Manson and the Tate murders?
Could not have been just one guy.
Unless all the girls and their families were Trump supporters the FBI should have been called in to collect evidence.
I'm hoping the cops really do have some solid leads that they are keeping 'close to the vest' because all them sound like they're dumb as dirt.
So what they’re saying is that the perp didn’t just walk down the street, see a house at random and say, “this one.” That’s why they make the big bucks.
The murderer(s) have to be acquaintances of one or both of the SURVIVORS.

Problem is to many people were in before the police - according to my readings of previous articles...
Reminds me of the Bonet Ramsey...
Richard Speck was one guy and he killed 8.
Some serial killers choose and stalk their victims. BTK is an example. It is targeted but there is no relationship between the killer and their victims
The victims were killed on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the house.
The sleeping roommates who lived were on the 1st floor.
Why would this racial killer pass up the opportunity to kill two more presumably white college students on his way out the front door?
Could very easily be one guy ... good with a knife ... very quickly ...
I think they initially said this because they did not want to panic the community. Similarly, they said there was no danger to the public. How could they know that for sure at the time? The way it sounded back then made it seem like it they knew who the killer was. Or, that it was a murder-suicide, a drug overdose, or the like.
'Targeted' could mean the murderer randomly walked past the house and decided to go in and see if he could get into some trouble. Also, it could mean the murderer has a long-standing motive or anything in-between.
They may be keeping up the same 'targeted' phrasing to avoid sounding inconsistent which may make them look incompetent.
