More than 100 US lawmakers pledge support for affordable housing legislation

A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers has pledged support for an affordable housing bill that could lead to the development of 500,000 starter homes in struggling communities over the next decade.

The Neighborhood Homes Investment Act, introduced in both the House and Senate, would offer a tax incentive to developers to minimize their risk when building or rehabilitating existing housing.

In some areas of the U.S., the cost of rehabilitating or building a home could exceed the eventual sale price. This bill would fill the “value gap,” up to 35 percent of eligible development costs for new homes.

The bill currently has the support of 124 U.S. lawmakers across 37 states, and lawmakers have stressed the urgency to pass the bill before the end the current legislative session.

“It is critical that we get the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act over the finish line,” Sen. Rob Portman (Ohio), the lead Republican sponsor of the bill, said in a statement.

I voted for Portman a number of times .... he used to say and do the right things that Conservatives wanted to hear. He’s not the only disappointment on my voting record. This is why I no longer trust the republican party. They say what we want to hear to get the greatest jobs on the planet. And we naïvely believe them, then wonder why things are as bad as they are.

Millions of people coming across the border need housing. This is one question never seems to be asked publicly....where are all of these people living?

More gov spending by both parties.

Do mass deporting of parasites and 500,000 starter homes wouldn’t be needed.

Just another dark operation BS tax grab scam.

The Neighborhood Homes Investment Act

I remember when the word "invest" solely meant putting money into a business with hopes of turning a financial profit.

I think it was in the 1980s that the word was corrupted to mean government spending.

Reagan was the reason. His use of the term "tax & spend liberals" resonated with voters. So liberals began using the term "invest" instead of "spend."

Every liberal spending proposal became "an investment," as though there'd be some profit down the line. We're "investing" in education, or in childhood nutrition, or in a clean environment.

I don't think the word was used in such non-business contexts prior to the 1980s.

Translation: Productive Taxpayers subsidizing the truly needy = 15%, and the freeloading deadbeats = 85%.

The “People who annoy you” will move into the suburbs in droves to these ‘hoods’ and destroy them just like they’ve done to the cities.

Exactly, and the primary objective of course is to obliterate the middle class.

What Percentage of the US population already gets Section 8 housing?

They pay only a small percentage of the rent-—Taxpayers shoulder the rest.

NOW-—MORE ‘Housing”?

Will Illegals be kept out of these structures??????

HAS a SINGLE person in CONGRESS EVER gone thru any of the Ghetto housing to see how those inhabitants take care of ANYTHING???

THEY DON’T HAVE THE GUTS TO DO THAT !!!!!

Watch Judge Judy & The People’s Court & Judge Jerry Springer to see how many of their cases are landlords trying to recover damages from a tenant——

Along with mass deportation of the parasites, it would also be quite the cost savings for taxpayers to have some enforced limits on the number of offspring who can be supported out of the public trough. Start sterilizing these prolific breeders and make them support their own progeny. This should be applicable to both citizens and non-citizens alike. If you can’t take care of your own responsibility, don’t shirk it on to the public.
