“The person has admitted during the interrogation that she was trained as a special intelligence officer by the PKK/PYD/YPG terrorist organization. She entered [Turkey] illegally through Afrin for the attack,” read the statement, accompanied by a photo of a young woman in a purple T-shirt and with a swollen face. “She said that she planted the bomb at 16:20 in line with the instructions she received from the PKK/PYD/YPG terrorist organization’s headquarters in Kobani and fled.”
(Note: this is a typo. “PKK/PYD/YPG” Indicator that someone does not know what they are talking about. It should read YPJ not YPD. )
Al Monitor is a respected publication. One of the better in the ME, but they have a wide range of views of the reporters.
This explanation does not pass the smell test for me.
Afrin (Efrin) is controlled by ISIS fragments that Turkey planted there.
That would not be a point of demarcation for such an attack by the PKK. Almost all of the Kurds were run out of Efrin 3-4 years ago. At one time (years ago), there was a PKK presence near there in the mountains.
This could be a cover story by Turk MiT. MiT has had a presence in Efrin for 3 years.
Kobane was a strong center for YPG/YPJ in early stages of the war with ISIS. PKK is centered in the Kandil mountains to the NE of Syria, Turkey and Iraq.
I am familiar with that war. I followed it daily for 7 years. Knew people there.
