The team did not sing along with the national anthem before its first match against England.
Iran has threatened families of players on the Iranian World Cup team with “violence and torture” if the players don’t “behave” in the match vs. the United States men's national team on Tuesday, CNN’s Sam Kiley reports.
A source told Kiley that Iran has a “large number” of security eyeing how the players act while in Qatar. Additionally, the source said Iran coach Carlos Queiroz met with Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps officers following these threats, but it is unclear whether that was what the meeting was about.

Maybe it’s true.... maybe it isn’t. It’s another of those “anonymous source said” stories. America gets so much propaganda anymore that stories like that are almost all untrue and designed to advance a narrative.

I saw this reported on CNN today.
Apparently the players are siding with the Iranian protesters and there’s a big match against the US today.

Just like the Steele “Dossier”. They put the story out in several places at once, they all report that someone else is reporting, blah blah blah.
It gives the effect that the story is everywhere. It’s actually very planted, buy the Brits, perfidious Albion, yet again.

True. There is very little truthful reporting anymore and it’s a lot of work trying to verify what gets put out there.
I take almost everything that’s reported with a big grain of salt these days.
You are so dead on right about this. I know I have underestimated the amount of manipulation going on, and I think 90% of stories are driven by narrative now, and would not be surprised if it was actually close to 100%.
It’s a through the looking glass feeling when you suddenly realize that nearly everything we are presented is a lie.
The Iranian regime is trash.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
Since the Iranian regime has done this in the past, for real, I’m inclined to think it’s true. Threatening family members is what they do in order to keep people in line, inside Iran & outside.
