SAN FRANCISCO — “What’s going on here @tim_cook?” Elon Musk tweeted on Monday to Tim Cook, the chief executive of Apple, igniting a spat between the world’s richest man and the world’s most valuable public company.
In a series of tweets over 15 minutes, Mr. Musk, the new owner of Twitter, accused Apple of threatening to withhold Twitter from its App Store, a move that would limit some new users from downloading the app. The action would amount to censorship, Mr. Musk said. He added that Apple had also reduced its advertising spending on Twitter.

With the tweets, Mr. Musk set the stage for a power struggle with Mr. Cook, who holds immense influence over other tech companies through Apple’s dominance. Mr. Musk has a vested interest now in Apple’s clout because of his ownership of Twitter, which he bought last month for $44 billion and which is used by iPhone owners around the world. In one tweet, Mr. Musk implied he was ready for “war” with Apple.

>>> I don’t care what it runs on as long as it can run common apps. He can create his own emulator OS I don’t care. Just get me off Google and Apple for mobile devices.<<<
Well put!
Microsoft couldn’t pull it off because they were idiots. Literally. Balmer. Enough Said.
BTW, I had a front row seat in that mess.
They had no chance do to primarily their hubris.
you are so 5 minutes ago. Things change.
“If he makes a phone that runs linux or a clean android with an open bootloader, I’m in.”
I’ve been looking for such a phone, too. The PinePhone looks like it’s largely for developers and experimenters.
That was the whole point of my post. Musk says cellphones are so yesterday, saying that Neuralink will do away with cellphones and smart watches. Direct neural interfaces are the future.
“If Elon were to make a phone, I would not it”
Translation?
You ever had to say to a kid “don’t make me come down there?” That’s where we are at now. Musk has to stoop to the level....that’s not the same thing as saying what SHOULD happen.
There’s the ideal, then the practical, then the required.
1/2 of life is figuring out which is what.
Twitter is a Private owned company.
Apple is Public.
This War could cost Fag Tim Cook his job.
Does Cook feel that luckie?
I doubt it.
Good point.
You can’t side load apps on Apple phones, without using TestFlight or developer credentials. Android has basically zero security and allows one to install whatever crap one wants.
Ugh... posting from a phone.
I would BUY it.. is what I meant.
I would it....but neither
I never said it to my kids or grandkids. However, my dad would say it. "Don't make me come there with my belt and smack you!". Always threatened to whip me with his belt, but it never came to that. He was an Army officer, and I obeyed, shined his boots and belt buckles, and did so without challenging him. Now I tell my daughters about my grandchildren "Spare the rod and spoil the child.". They think I'm mean for saying such things, that it's monstrous. A coercive threat without following through is sometimes warranted. Different times now with Millennials going wild. Musk is not understood because he has the mindset of past geniuses. He will prevail despite naysayers.
