Donald Trump I should run, while Donald Trump II might be stopped

A less pleasant wonder of modernity is the way in which the media and political classes can erase from the minds of the public a real person’s genuine qualities and accomplishments and, instead, substitute a purely fictional character, compounded of endless fake narratives. It’s this artificial creation that may stand between Trump and another run at the White House.

. . . Some argue that his time is past, that they are appreciative of what he was able to do, but now is some sort of damaged goods that will sabotage Republicans winning back The White House. . . .

. . .

However, before these discussions matter for anything, there is a different challenge that can only be won by Donald Trump. Can the old Donald Trump beat a new Donald Trump his opponents created?

There are now two Donald Trumps: the successful businessman who had three great years as president before Covid and a newly created caricature that contains some elements of the old combined with new material that does not really exist. It is some version of this new Donald Trump that most people insist should not run.

It has taken his opponents over seven years to create this fake, although they clearly thought it would happen sooner. Rush used to truly say that they could not destroy Trump because they did not create him. So they created a new Donald Trump and have slowly substituted that person in place of the real Donald Trump in the voters’ minds. They are now successfully destroying the new Donald Trump they created.

This new creation incorporates Charlottesville, Russian collusion, Ukraine impeachment, grabbing private parts, injecting bleach, promoting dangerous drugs, and election denying. It is the mean-tweeting insurrectionist that steals classified government documents.

This fake Donald Trump has become the real one in the minds of many, including people who once supported him. For those who live on the coasts or watch traditional media, the new Donald Trump may be the only Donald Trump anyone sees. Without two years of his having lost bully pulpits from which to counteract the deception (the White House and, arguably, Twitter), the fix is in. They steal elections, and now they have stolen the real Donald Trump and successfully replaced him with someone else they created. The real Donald Trump is still there, but the glass through which the public sees him has been horribly distorted.

It’s a valid point. When people see clips of Trump they’re always surprised. “This is the first time I’ve agreed with anything he’s said”. What they never come to realize is that’s probably the first time they’ve ever hears anything he’s said. The news around Trump is entirely made up. Look at the latest B.S with the Kanye dinner. They’ve turned it into a Klan meeting. The “right win elites” do whatever they can to promote that narrative. Trump has almost no media to use to communicate his message.

Let’s hope the 2nd version has smarter picks for his cabinet & administration.

It’s really hard to blame Trump here. The advise and consent role means the deep state will always have sway into his admin. Even the founders never imagined where this country is now. One branch staffing another branch is a disaster of an idea. Trump really needs a cabinet filled with people with no ties to Washington. Good luck getting that cabinet through the Senate (Repuke or Rat). He basically would need a Senate filled with MAGA supporters. Currently there are a maximum of 3 such Senators.

“The news around Trump is entirely made up”

Not completely true. He says things he shouldn’t be saying if he wants to become our next president.

Trump is both.

The left obviously blows a ton of things out of proportion, but as has been noted repeatedly, they try to do that to any conservative. That's why it is so important for conservatives to be disciplined in how they communicate so they aren't causing self-inflicted wounds. And Trump just isn't. He usually gives them the ammunition they use to take cheap shots.

There also is a disconnect between some of his most ardent supporters and the rest of us in terms of what we find problematic. Those supporters love it when he makes up insulting nicknames about other Republicans, because to them, that pugnacity is part of what makes him "Trump". But a lot of others don't like it, and that's not because the MSM is telling us what to think. It's because we don't like it, and know that it loses him votes with swing voters.

Pawning off all of Trump's perceived flaws on being just media creations just isn't accurate. He does a lot of it to himself.

Nonsense. “Kanye is a great friend of mine” is considered something he shouldn’t say if he wants to be President. The fact that you buy into this crap shows why it’s difficult for Trump

I blame Trump for some of his bad cabinet/advisor picks, while I give him a pass for others.

Sessions is the best example of one to give Trump a pass on. All of us on FR loved loved loved loved the idea of Jeff Sessions being AG.

Don’t think Jeff Sessions had any idea just how badly Obama had weaponized the DOJ, FBI ect. He was overwhelmed with the utter corruption AND probably utterly embarrassed that the weaponization happen right under his nose as a Senator it was probably shocking to him!! I think it has been shocking to all of us the MASSIVE damage Obama has done in weaponizing EVERY aspect of government!! I despise that arrogant racist bastard!!!
