What we should have been doing in the U.S., since Ike finished his second term.

I love this Paisana, Giorgia.

Stay with it Sweetie and I and my family may return to Italy.

It depends on who gets to be President in 2024.

Although, honestly speaking, administration/ regimes tend not to last very long in Intalia.

In Sept. She came out also in defense of Israel, in which the far left hates too...

Poised to become Italy’s first female prime minister, Giorgia Meloni says, “One of the most common manifestations of anti-Semitism today is anti-Israel propaganda.”

Giorgia Meloni'a New Policy: Italians Who Refuse Job Offers Will Have Social Benefits Revoked

What about non-Italians living in Italy?

Boat people from Africa, alleged "refugees" from the Middle East, military-age men from Afghanistan, etc.? This apply to them, too?

Regards,

Judging by the way her government is blocking the “refugee” ships from further landings in Italy I suspect she has some harsher measures in mind for her illegals… down the road.

making it conditional upon those who receive job offers while receiving the benefit...

How will they know who got a job offer? What if the offer was at some lowball wage?

I like the concept and wish we could do that here. But I do have questions.

--- "...Who Refuse Job Offers Will Have Social Benefits Revoked."

I slipped past the national adjective, Italian. This should apply to all nations ans societies. Welfarism is a plague, pushed by a permanent political class that wants nothing more than to pay for votes with other people's money.

“The new government also lowered the age at which citizens can draw on their pension from 64 to 62, providing they have paid in at least 41 years of contributions.””

I like this one. It means a WORKING MAN can start on their pension at 62, while a college-educated erudite will have to wait until 64 (since they graduate at 23 there, including their ‘gap year’ when they backpack around the world).

Agree, my guess is that they’re making arrangements with their relatives to move further north in Europe, to places where the locals don’t mind working hard and paying high taxes to give their ‘new arrivals’ a free ride.

Most likely the employer is working with government to fill openings. As to the wage, it would have to be at least minimum wage, and if that means a ‘pay cut’ in some way, I expect that the government will make up the difference. So the deadbeat often won’t see much benefit from working, but at least the employer will be able to fill the job openings. Could certainly use some of that here.

Most of the migrants weren’t working was my understanding. So this would hit them too. But rather than work I’d expect them to migrate again to someplace else where they can sponge again. Beware if Biden announces a wave of ‘Italian’ emigration.

Most of the migrants weren’t working was my understanding assumption.

Could very well be that this new policy doesn't apply to persons with "refugee status."

You'd be surprised how "unemployable" someone from sub-Saharan Africa might be from the get-go. Illiterate even in their mother-tongue. Unable to understand basic concepts. Unwilling to, e.g., accept instructions from female superiors. Stymied by, e.g., how to use a modern toilet.

Can't justly demand that someone from a Stone Age culture just start working in a First World country.

Regards,
