It is surprisingly easy to rob a bank as the tellers are trained to hand over the cash and avoid a confrontation. However, it is becoming much harder to get away with one as surveillance and other technologies such as nearly impossible to detect die packs usually leads law enforcement eventually to the culprits. Plus, the days of the "million dollar" heist are over. The most cash a teller will have in their drawer at any given time is several thousand dollars, some of which is specially marked or booby trapped in some way.
Law enforcement is starting to refer to bank robberies as crimes "for losers."

He had needs. So what’s the problem? Clearly he’s underprivileged. So much hate.

Rockford is a popular target for bank robberies. Convenient locations near the highways and other high speed feeder roads.
Midland States Banks in Rockford used to Alpine Banks.
Here is another loser who was attached to a couple of other bank robberies. He got more than surveillance.

I have no idea how banks are run these days, but on those rare instances when I visit a teller (to break a twenty, so I don’t burden the dry cleaner) they run it through a machine that resembles an ATM. I am pretty sure that they have some sort of duress code. They need to enter data and transaction type to get money out.
Who in his right mind would even attempt to rob a bank today?
To: Dr. Sivana
The kidnapping victim is interesting. She was smart. Cars have trunk release levers (lighted, I believe) inside the trunk these days, for just that reason. She waited until he stopped and started again, realizing that that was her best chance. Otherwise she might be dead today.
