In 1936 Germany had the ABILITY to take all of Europe, and much of the world.

In 2022 Russia does not have the ability to take a single country from NATO, much less all of them.

The threats are not even close.

That invalidates the silly domino argument.

In 1936 Germany didn’t have that ability, not even close. It had just started mobilization in 1935. Germany was lacking everything, and was starting from way behind, but it had a years headstart on France and Britain.

In 2022-23 Russia can’t take on Poland, but it can probably take Latvia, Lithuania Estonia, assuming nobody helps them. And, most likely, Moldavia.

And give them a victory over Ukraine and who knows what they can manage in five years. Give them a victory over Ukraine and think what message China is going to get.

Ethiopia in 1936 sent a message - that the center could not hold, that the old alliances were a dead letter, that the old gang was weak and intended to stay that way. This was no small factor in encouraging ambitions in Japan, in Germany.
