McLame was truly a disaster. The man never met a war that he didn’t love. He epitomized the mentality that exists in some circles of the military: “prepare for peace but pray for war.”
He also of course was famous for saving Obamacare.
And he sabotaged early attempts to thwart gay “marriage.” I remember in the early 2000s there was a push for a constitutional amendment limiting marriage to one man/one woman. At that time, such an amendment had a decent change of passing and being ratified. Supporters predicted, accurately, that a Roe v. Wade style SCOTUS ruling would eventually impose same-sex marriage on the entire country. Yet McLame did his best to thwart the idea, saying that it was unnecessary and that “no one is talking about legalizing gay marriage for the whole country.” Oops.
During John McCain’s 2008 presidential run I received a letter from his daughter, Megan McCain, soliciting a campaign contribution.
The letter included a blank card where I could wish Senator McCain a happy birthday.
I almost threw in in the trash. Then, an inspiration hit.
I inscribed the card with: “Build the dang wall!” and sent it back without a donation.
“WHO is John McCain?
“Is he related to the POW known as the “Hanoi Songbird”? Some POWs were awarded the Congressional MOH in the same circumstances. NOT HIM.”
Is he the same as the famous “Wet Start McCain”?
