I’d take Biden’s remarks more seriously if his Secret Service guys were all armed with revolvers and pump shotguns. But somehow I don’t think that’s the case.
If Joe doesn’t like the second amendment the Constitution can be changed through the amendment process. Why does’t he propose an amendment? Let Congress vote on a repeal of the second amendment. It won’t pass either house. Even the majority of the Democrats aren’t stupid enough to vote “yes” for a repeal of the 2nd amendment no matter how hard Schumer and whoever becomes the Democrat leader in the House pushes. Neither the incoming House or Senate will deliver the required 2/3 vote to pass an amendment. Both must past with a 2/3 vote. Then 3/4 of the states must ratify the amendment.
Let’s put this ongoing attack on the 2nd Amendment to bed. McCarthy and McConnell should draft an amendment to end the 2nd Amendment. McCarthy can force a vote in the 2023 House. McConnell should publicly demand Schumer put it to a vote in the Senate. Schumer probably won’t put it to a vote but less than 50% of the House will vote for it. At that point the Republican’s can say, “The people through their elected representatives have spoken.” Any time Biden, the Democrats in Congress, or the press start whining about gun control, the answer should be, “The people through their elected representatives voted down restrictions on gun ownership.”
