Is gay marriage really the hill the GOP wants to die on in 2023?

The only problem with this analysis is the suggestion that people will start to like the GOP if it stands down on fighting culture wars. The suggestion that there are hordes of free-thinkers out there who hate government spending and globalism and voting for Democrats, and are desperate for an alternative to the old-fashioned Bible-thumping Moral Majority GOP.

I believe this theory has been extensively tested since 2000 and proven false. The GOP brand is now so damaged among the libertines and the tribalists that those people will never change their minds and vote Republican, no matter how much faux libertarianism is injected into the platform.

What might happen instead is a mass movement under a charismatic leader - curiously similar to MAGA, in fact - that can pull disenchanted, productive, and White (yes, I said it) voters away from both parties and build a governing coalition that will beat back the looters. This is why I have been advocating that we treat MAGA as a party-independent entity, and back MAGA Democrats in primaries everywhere we can.

The old game of getting to 51% and then handing the reins over to Mitch and Lindsay to placate the rabble for a couple of years while paying off the campaign contributors with omnibus spending bills has to cease.

Like abortion law, the Constitution leaves marriage law to the states. “Full faith and credit” does not mean that one state must enforce an insane contract from another state.

Abortion didn’t energize the Democratic base. Fraud denial is not a hill to die on.

Exactly, sodomist hill is a place for the supporters to die on. Marriage should be whatever a person wants it to be. No license, just marry yourself tonite, divorce tomorrow. Put that in a law, no license marriage. Just buy a ceremony or not. For we people who want to abide by our religious tenets, we will get married in a Church, pay the Pastor, and have him sign our names in a bright new shiny Bible with pages for us and descendants. Heck, maybe the church can make a buck selling family Bibles.

What would the perverts do if they wanted to get married in a Church if they had to pray first, and sign their names in a Bible... if the Church would allow it.

Outside of an Article V COS, Scotus is beyond the reach of self-government.

Dobbs was a welcome outlier in the hundred-year march of Scotus supremacy.

While the logic in Dobbs points toward the reversal of erroneous decisions based on perversions of the 14th Amendment, to rely on Scotus to reverse Obergefell anytime soon is silly.

The trans issue is something that more people can get behind at this stage.

Not even, particularly with the TERF opposition.

The Colorado Springs narrative just collapsed, too.

Vyacheslav Volodin, the president of the legislative branch of the Russian Parliament, the Duma, on Thursday presented the update on the law banning LGBT “propaganda”. “We have our own traditions and our own values,” he said, adding that the new legislation would “protect our children and the future of this country against darkness spread by the US and European countries”. It has been expanded to include adults, forbidding “the promotion of non-traditional sexual relations” in all media, books, films and online.

“Anti-LGBT propaganda is present in children’s school books, as is promotion of the traditional nuclear family with a father, mother and at least two children.”

This is what Libs would do here in the US, the difference is, substitute “Traditional Family” propaganda with “LBGT” propaganda.
