Never a dull moment.
Yes, cold turkey does work on smoking. My husband had to write a 50 page paper in 5 days, using a research library that did not allow smoking. He had a 3 pack a day habit and stopped every 15 minutes to go outside for a smoke. After 2 days he had written 5 pages. He quit to write the other 45 pages in 3 more days. He suffered for a week. After a few days the tiny hair cells that sweep the lungs clean came back to life and he felt like his lungs were itching and he wished he could scratch them. Then they started bringing up quantities of black mucus. After that week his lungs were mostly swept clean and the itching stopped. Six months later he had a coughing fit and a large black lump was coughed up. He never smoked again after that 2nd day in the library.
So if you want to quit, plan on a miserable week, and keep very busy, or go on a camping trip in the wilderness with non smokers. Taking extra Vitamin C is good too.
I can think of worst ways to be executed. Especially by American criminals.
Whole new meaning to Occams Razor eh?
Maybe the Russians could transfer a certain unnamed prisoner to Saudi Arabia?
Henry the VIII’s wife Ann Bolyne was beheaded by a specially provided expert French swordsman. I don’t know how Katherine Howard was executed.
““Well, as a smoker, I can tell you it’s hard to kick a habit... :P”
I know what you mean. Two packs a day for 50 years and kicked the habit “cold turkey after listening to a Rush Limbaugh program on ‘BENEFITS OF QUITTING SMOKING.
It’s all those Toshiro Mifune flicks. Blame Akira Kurosawa for glorifying sword violence.
Whenever Dad tried to quit, he’d come home with a big bag of Necco wafers, and that’s when I knew to make myself scarce from his presence for the next few days. Never worked.
The blacks in Memphis that are involved in the drug trade execute those that don’t pay by bending them over and emptying a magazine from a M1911 through the rectum. The press doesn’t like to report this as it disturbs the ostriches living there.
How many did the 12 with swords take out? At least they has a fighting chance.
Ok, I’m cutting it short after that one.
I imagine the addiction rate in Saudi Arabia is quite low.
I lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for 13 years, starting 2 weeks after 9/11 (I had accepted the job in June but did not receive my passport back, with its Entry Only Visa until the 1st week in September.
We were warned that being caught with drugs would result in beheading. In the one instance that an Aramcon had set up a massive ethanol manufacturing and distribution business in his backyard...and the authorities discovered it when a driver was stopped on his way to his employer’s house in an adjoining city, Aramco terminated the employee and got him on a plane to the U.S. within hours. Of course,he lost all of his retirement and benefits...and his wife was given 3 weeks to pack up the house and return to the U.S.
Then Saudi Aramco contacted the IRS with estimates of the undeclared income during the years he was engaged in illegal activity.
If he had not been an Aramcon...he would likely have been beheaded. Beer, bacon and Bibles are forbidden.
Brittney Griner is happy, she is in Russia,
not Saudi!

Katherine Howard was beheaded.
See also “problems with beheading” for why Henry imported an expert.

These are the animals GWB put on a plan back home on 911.
Fish or cut bait......
Or, perhaps, “Saudi Arabian authorities state that they wish to get ahead on human rights issues ... “
