Cotton on Taiwan: ‘I’m Concerned that as Early as Next Year Xi Jinping Could Decide to Go for the Jugular’

During an interview with Fox News, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) warned China could soon move to follow through with its threat to take Taiwan.

According to the Arkansas Republican, the move on Taiwan from Chinese President Xi Jinping may come in 2023.

“I’m concerned that as early as next year, Xi Jinping could decide to go for the jugular,” he said. “This has been a very important year for him in China. He just secured an unprecedented third five-year term. He’s made it clear that by the end of that five-year term in 2027, he wants to invade and annex Taiwan back to mainland China. I think he may see a window of opportunity to do so in the next couple of years in the same way that Vladimir Putin saw a window of opportunity to go for the jugular in Ukraine earlier this year.”

If Taiwan has the will to fight and some good defensive weaponry, then Comrade Xi will be very reluctant to commit his combat inexperienced army of one child soldiers, locally produced untested planes, ships and munitions in an attack across 90 miles of open ocean. He saw what happened to Putin and Russia. Actually Russia’s rich Asian Pacific underpopulated territories and the treasure house of Siberia are more appealing targets. Russia cannot defend them conventionally. They remain Russian thanks to nuclear weapons.

Cotton is a Neocon of course they are poking China around hoping to get China to use military force before China is strong enough to kick our butts.

This situation was always in the cards 2025 or 2027 the dates they gave in the Foreign Policy Establishment for China to be stronger than the US militarily.

Now that we are just about there China has to be dealt with and the US is provoking.

Nancy Pelosi and every other US official who visited Taiwan this year was there to *iss off China and make them angry.

The US and allies playing hardball to force China out of the computer chip industry.

End of last week the British forced a Dutch company owned by China to divest 86 percent or more of its stake in a computer chip factory in Wales.

That’s designed to *iss off and provoke China as well.

The tech oriented NASDAQ performs worse than the Dow everyday in the midst of all this shakeup of the chip industry.

Even Cotton is all about “the sky is falling” fear mongering. These people are absolutely amazing. They really do just want to send us all to our deaths in another ‘great war’. I saw no.

“Window of opportunity in 2023 and 2024. Now what could be causing that particular window to be open?

It won’t happen over night, if it does happen. If China begins the buildup necessary to launch conventional war on Taiwan, we will know it. There are few surprises in the age of satellite surveillance.

Taiwan would be a bad deal for China. Bad for business. Taiwan is armed and would give China lots of problems.

It’s much more likely that China will make a big noise about invading Taiwan and then at the last moment do a Patton-like pirouette and then invade Siberia. They have so much more to gain from taking back Siberia than they would ever gain from destroying Taiwan and getting sanctioned the same way Russia is getting sanctioned.

Taiwan’s defense policy consists of: buy US weapons to get good headlines, keep the USA involved, and get DC insiders on its side

Otherwise, Taiwan does nothing extraordinary to defend itself.

It recently reduced its terms “national service” to mere 4 months. Most recruits don’t even fire a rifle

It spends Southern-Europe level of its GDP on defense.

Its total budgeted armed forces is 250K soldiers, but it can’t even maintain 180K. Nearly half its armor units are inoperable because of lack of manpower

Mao always referred to the US as a "paper tiger". Back then he was most assuredly wrong. But his successors,The Butchers of Beijing, know that The Big Guy is exactly that...a paper tiger, more focused on pronouns in the Armed Forces than weapons...training...readiness.

Me too, now he seems all over the place. He’s a strange dude for sure. He has a kind of Manchurian candidate aura.

Joe will...be out of it entirely by then

Certainly within the next two years after which Red China will lose its significant ownership interest in America's Executive Branch, and interest which our mortal enemies paid dearly for.
