B., you claimed that Russian speakers had no reason to prefer living in Ukraine. A Ukraine in the EU, with a Russian speaking population, would be a vastly attractive place to many Russians. And highly subversive to the oligarchic, kleptocratic Russia as it exists today.
This all really started when the Ukrainians overwhelmingly voted to join the EU.
Are you originally from a banana republic? I hear this argument quite often since 2004, more so since 2014 and Ukraine is still not in the EU and getting worse after every year. BTW, Romanians who want to annex Moldova often use the same argument.
Allegedly, being a citizen of a failed state is nice, as long as its passport is accepted for free travel in Europe.
For any person who have a slight idea of patriotism and common dignity it is rather weird. They aren’t going to fight for a country where the single advantage is the ability to leave the hell hole for good.
