I’d be curious about the nature and severity of the “crimes.” How many were a case of a white guy saying “Chief” or “How” to an Indian? Or were those “sticks and stones” crimes excluded?
In the 2012 census, the U.S. had 5.2 million American Indians and Alaska Natives making up approximately 2 percent of the U.S. population. 142 “hate crimes” against 5.2 million people actually seems to be darn close to zero. To be precise, that is 0.000027 “hate crimes” per Indian. Not exactly an epidemic, is it?
There’s been about 100 million times more hatred and calumny heaped on all conservatives and President Trump, but it gets zero attention.
Most hate crimes are indeed things like taunting, insults, and graffiti. Murder and aggravated assault are relatively rare.
