New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) activated the National Guard to assist with the state and local response to an “epic snow event” that dumped more than five feet of snow on some areas near Buffalo.
Hochul told the Buffalo-based NBC affiliate WGRZ on Saturday that she has deployed more than 70 National Guardsmen to help remove snow to the areas south of Buffalo, which have seen the largest amounts of accumulation.

Looks like they do know how to remove snow.
I’d be more shocked if she didn’t
That’s a lot of snow!
I’m thinking she has friends and donors south of Buffalo that need low cost loans or grants during this “emergency”.
New York has not permitted fracking or new pipeline construction. Good luck.
3.1. Operator Readiness.
3.1.1. Training. Give higher priority to training after winters with below-average snowfall.

Hire the homeless to shovel, they want to work. ;/
She probably sent them there to forcibly vaccinate the victims.
Must be fun removing six feet of snow with entreating tools. Doesn't matter. This is soooo presidential.
A guy I know in Buffalo is posting about the event on a forum we’re on. From his perspective, it’s just not a big deal.
Test run....
Not saying she wouldn’t and doesn’t do things like that, but from I lived a long time in that area, so I have to say that it’s actually pretty common in Buffalo for the National Guard to help clear snow during these sorts of events. On many city streets, there’s nowhere to go with it. It can’t even be plowed, but must be scooped up and transported to a literal “snow dump.”
After he’s shoveled out from the foot and a half he got in the city of Buffalo, he can head down to Orchard Park where they got more than 66” (5.5 feet). Or is he a wimp?

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency in 10 counties and the National Guard has been activated to help clean up and clear roadways.

The city has received nearly 7 feet of snow since Monday, nearly as much as it typically receives in an entire winter. Officials have declared a state of emergency, with streets made impassable, mobile home roofs caved in and at least two deaths linked to the harsh conditions.
The record snowfall—82.3 inches since Monday—was piling up as fast as it could be cleared away, and National Guard troops were on their way to help remove the snow in dump trucks.

The 2001 storm I sure do remember! It stands out to me to this day as the worst Buffalo snow storm, among a great many, that I went through. The National Guard cleared snow on our street, I recall.
It was like waking up to find there’d been a blizzard overnight, and then the following day, there was another blizzard on top of it! We literally got 3 feet of snow one day, and 3 feet the next.
I shoveled my driveway after the first one, and then the next day had to shovel the front yard to have room to shovel the driveway again.
And days later, I needed to get to the shed behind the house to get a heavy metal shovel to clear ice from the end of the driveway, and I had to turn the lids from big plastic storage containers into “snow shoes” in order to get back there. I would set one down and step on it, and then the next. I was a bit concerned about falling, that I might not be able to get myself out of the snow if I did. Then I shoveled a 72’ hole in the snow at the shed. When I later went back there, I’d jump down into it.
72”, not 72’!
Since they forced National Guardsmen to get the shots, is she alright with NG members having heart attacks shoveling snow, in light of the fact that the State has told people to avoid shoveling their driveways because shoveling could cause a heart attack?
