Carriers to fight airfields is why carriers carry lots of airplanes. It also helps that a major NATO backing submarine has left Gibralter and is/has moved toward the Black Sea. Submarines are so much harder to see than ships. And this one carries weapons that can easily reach Moscow. Check.
