Here is a relatively sane article by FiveThirtyEight which attempts to explain why the race was so close.

Essentially: Big self funding by the Democrat, who labled themselves as "conservative".

Half a million outside help for the Democrat, none for Lauren;

no appearance by Trump for Lauren,

a significant "blue wave" in Colorado.

Which omits any mention of the "bi-partisan" redistricting which move a number of Republican dominated areas from the Western slope into the eastern slope Boulder County congressional district where they could be safely ignored. Also moved a number of Democrat-dominated areas into Boebert's new district, where they should have been a decisive advantage.

The Democrats did not believe they needed to cheat very much after that was accomplished. They were counting on outside fund-raising and the gimmicked new district.

Frisch is not asking for a recount, even though one is required under state law. My guess is that there is some fraud involved which the Democrats do not want exposed. They won almost everything else in Colorado and do not need to fight for Frisch.
