(LifeSiteNews) – In perhaps the greatest defeat conservatives have ever suffered at the hands of Republican Party, the Senate today advanced Democrats’ bill to enshrine same-sex “marriage” into federal law in a vote of 62 to 37.
Twelve Republican senators joined with all Democrats to pass the bill, the “Respect for Marriage Act,” including: Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Rob Portman of Ohio, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, and Todd Young of Indiana.
Democrats needed the support of 10 Republicans to clear the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster threshold.
Today’s vote came despite the objections of many of the most prominent conservative groups in the U.S., including the Heritage Foundation, Alliance Defending Freedom, the Family Research Council, thousands of Christian churches and institutions, and the overwhelming majority of Republican voters who oppose federal legislation to codify homosexual “marriage.”
The Respect of Marriage Act makes same-sex “marriage” the law of the land, ensuring that all 50 states must recognize such unions, regardless of state laws, in the event the Supreme Court overturns its 2015 decision, Obergefell v. Hodges, which mandates legal recognition of same-sex “marriage” nationwide.

Marriage or Holy Matrimony is a sacrament instituted by God.
It wasn’t enough that gays had civil unions giving all rights as a married couple, they had to poke their finger in God’s eye by perverting what is the Lords.

From what I understand, this bill would require states to honor the marriage contracts of any other state, so if, for example, Michigan lowered the age of consent to age 12 to satisfy the Muslim community, for example, guess what? Florida would have to honor such perverted marriages.

Don’t be so sure. The Supreme Court that overturned Roe v. Wade might find the same flaw in its previous decisions on gay sex and “gay marriage”.
This law should be challenged in court.
Besides that, it is yet ANOTHER act of war against the people.
I will not even donate to Trump if he works with the same fund raisers as the GOP. I held my nose and voted for that backstabber Murphy and for the new guy Budd, but I have donated no money this election cycle (wife and I normally targeted donations for certain candidates). We donated last cycle to the Georgia recount, to a Florida candidate and Murphy. Never again. It is not only time to leave the GOP it is time to cut off their small donor money stream. They treat conservatives the way RATS treat minorities.
I can’t see any way that is Constitutional.

Expect a lot of ‘lame duck’ legislation to get crammed through, especially on the strength of those who are leaving office.
