Mitch McConnell's behavior has been reprehensible. He refused to support GOP candidates who could have helped Republicans win control of the Senate. He is funding an internecine battle between GOP candidates in Alaska, favoring RINO Lisa Murkowski over conservative Kelly Tshibaka. The Turtle is the swampiest of the swamp creatures. He even has shadowy ties to Communist China.
But sometimes politics requires making deals with bad people. Sometimes politics, for all its sordid nature, can offer a path to redemption.
McConnell has a narrow pathway to go from zero to hero. He can once again thrust himself into position as GOP champion and help himself in the process.
First, he must immediately throw all of his support, all of his funding and all of his arm-twisting, favor-calling-in influence behind the Georgia runoff campaign of Herschel Walker. This would cut against McConnell's nature. Walker is a Trump protΓ©gΓ©, and McConnell hates and works to undermine everything Trump stands for, which is why this act would be such an unexpected gesture and a credit in Mitch's favor.
Herschel Walker has a good chance to win. He has great name recognition. Most votes siphoned off by the Libertarian candidate should go to him. He faces a weak and tainted opponent.
However, a win in Georgia would get the GOP only back to a 50/50 tie in the Senate. With Kamala Harris as the president of the Senate voting to resolve ties in the Democrats' favor, a GOP victory in Georgia is big but still not big enough.
To earn full redemption, McConnell must facilitate a win in Georgia and then must complete a second labor of penance. He must flip Joe Manchin from Democrat to Republican. A win for Walker combined with turning Manchin will put the Senate under Republican control.

To be redeemed, you have to want redemption. But before that, you have to suffer loss and McConnell hasn’t suffered loss in this election.
In the previous two elections, McConnell quietly blocked non-GOPe candidates by holding back funds through his PAC. He would deny it or ignore questions and that was that. Comes 2022 with Trump taking a direct role in every high profile Senate race with non-GOPe candidates, McConnell now isn’t quiet. He actively blocks them by questioning their quality and refuses to give them money while throwing millions to his toadie Murkowski in Alaska.
McConnell literally says my power is such that I’m going to prevent the Republican party from taking over the Senate and me becoming majority leader and not only is there nothing anyone can do about it especially Donald Trump, but I’m still going to lead the Republicans in the Senate when I’m done.
That isn’t someone who suffered loss and certainly isn’t someone looking for redemption.
The hypocrisy is that McConnell didn't care a whit about "quality" in 2014 when he ran racist ads in Mississippi attacking Republican state senator Chris McDaniel when McDaniel forced a run-off against McConnell crony Thad Cochran, who was suffering from early dementia and could no longer serve in office.
McConnell and Cochran's staff kept Cochran in the "basement," so-to-speak, to hide his true condition. When McDaniel did well-enough in the primary to force a run-off, McConnell's PAC appealed to Mississippi Democrats to (illegally) cross-over and vote for Cochran in the run-off by calling McDaniel a racist.
McDaniel eventually lost the run-off election. Cochran resigned his seat four years into his term.

No redemption, throw this traitor out
Seppuku.
Redemption for McConnell seems quite unlikely to me. I’d like to be pleasantly surprised but won’t be holding my breath waiting for it.
