NATO has no intention of invading Russia. And should NATO launch a special military operation it will be with the goal of preventing genocide and denazifying Russia.
NATO also had no intention of absorbing former Soviet bloc territory after 1990’s reunification of Germany. That assurance, through James Baker, was one of the factors the Soviet Union took into account during a mostly peaceful (i.e. more peaceful than Minneapolis) dissolution.
Then NATO accepted: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Albania and Croatia, Montenegro and North Macedonia.
They are proffering and expediting application for Finland and Sweden, and have stated early and often that NATO membership is on the horizon for Ukraine, after the Western Maidan coup in 2014.
What do you think this looks like to the Russians? The same thing as the commie revolutions in South America and Cuba would look to us, if the commies had just recently overthrown Mexico or Canada as well (in Canada’s case, they kinda did).
Russia is simply Eastasia. We have always been at war with Eastasia. Don’t question it.
