I remember two decades ago everybody thought FL was going Democrat from all the northeast move-ins. Thankfully that didn’t happen.

Mabe it’s the weather? More laid back? At least for some. I know some here in AZ won’t change their stripes, ever. Ugh.

Specifically, the older generation of pre-WW2 Jews have basically died off, including most of my relatives in Florida, though some were conservatives, but the quiet ones.

Some of the hardcore leftist Jews were retirees and members of the Communist Party, but only active in a few cities, esp. Miami - i.e. the Jewish Cultural Clubs and Jewish Currents magazine, a Party members split-off faction from the still Stalinist Jewish Affairs magazine publication.

Don’t know how their kids voted but suspect they were largely liberals but continuing influences of Jewish Soviet emigres fleeing the rising anti-feminism of Khruschev, Brezhnev and Andropov helped to bring in some new conservative blood. I interviewed a good number during the 70s when I wrote for Jewish newspapers as a journalist.

Suspect that more conservative Jews fleeing rising anti-semitism in Latin America has increased the numbers of Conservative Jewish voters.

Next election will show a major jump in their numbers.
