The irony, if you don’t have the COVID vax you are out, but if you have AIDS you are good to go!
As far as I know the federal government is the only employer allowed to discriminate based on age. (Yes, it’s related.) The reason the feds can discriminate on age is that older employees COST MORE MONEY. They are also less able to perform certain tasks in the time required. Based on that reasoning alone the military...an employer...should be allowed to hire only young and therefore HEALTHIER employees.
Forget about the fact that someone HIV positive might result in spreading illness among the uninfected. Let’s just assume the HIV infected are not interested in having sex with their work companions and just look at the added logistics burden in having someone who is perpetually dependent on a constant supply of drugs just to function. Now, deploy them to the jungles of East Shitistan where they may be required to live off the land for months at a time with no reliable supply system. Shortly, they would require evacuation, or they’d die.
You’re going to argue, well, just don’t make them deployable. I’d argue I have the same investment, arguably more investment, in them as Private Pureblood. Therefore, I should be able to make them do the same things I’d expect of a healthier soldier. And if I can’t, but I’m paying them the same, what will Private Younblood think? Or doesn’t said private have any rights?
