And the thing is, that demonstration wasn’t really violent. It was just massive and presumably interfered with the day-to-day goings-on in Belgrade and with Milosevic. The only real violence was when a guy with a bulldozer destroyed the state-run TV studio in town. Milosevic, obviously fearful, commanded his troops to fire on the protesters, but the troops refused, short-circuiting his illicit seizure of power.
In other words, it was mostly peaceful. :-)
