“How much carbon and other greenhouse gases does an exploding / burning lithium battery release into the atmosphere?”
Depends on what else it sets on fire.
Battery fire caused a house fire in Karmiel a week and a half ago.
I’m not sure “start up nation” was intended to mean tech fires.
“it’s all about control.”
Absolutely!
The DemocRATS love the Chicoms and the old Soviet Union. Our history books will not have this, but in the USSR, in order to travel outside of your small area (county) one needed one’s papers. An internal passport system. The dirty big secret is that they did not issue papers to over 70% of the population. If you did have your papers, and did or thought something outside of the correct thinking, you could easily have your papers canceled, and lose your ability to travel. I can just see them implementing an individual Carbon Footprint allowance, and stopping your ability to charge your mandatory EV if you travel too much, too far.
2 burned alive in ICE car fire

You won’t have your mandatory EV because there aren’t enough materials on the planet to build the infrastructure needed to support a hydrogen economy. He’s targeting 2050 as the date of 100% conversion from fossil fuels to “renewables”. Based on his estimates, there’s only 2% of the required lithium present in known lithium deposits and at the 2019 mining rates, it would require nearly 10,000 years to mine the required amount of lithium. Watch the vid. The people pushing EVs haven’t done their homework and still believe in unicorn farts.
What? Until you catch a unicorn and force feed it beans, you can’t tell for sure that it won’t work!
>beans
There’s a chili thread around here somewhere...
V8 engines used to do that all the time. Right?
Far more gas cars burn compared to EVs simply because of the shear numbers. But gas car fires are far easier to extinguish with just one truck of water.
Correct. Just imagine what will happen when one starts in one of the multi story casino garages in Vegas. It will burn it down as it spreads to cars powered by gas or batteries. It will happen eventually.
#11 Horses are intelligent and often friendly, especially if you treat them right. They produce fertilizer for the garden. And they never, ever explode.
I saw an episode of Bonanza and a horse got upset (exploded) at Joe Cartwright and broke his arm.
In Florida we have the additional problem of salt water and lithium batteries mixing and causing fires.
Enh. That was an actor horse. He was just pretending to break Little Joe’s arm, and Little Joe was just pretending to get his arm broke. And who did the producer and director trust to pretend to break Little Joe’s 100,000 dollar arm? A horse, of course. And the horse just pretend got mad, which is mere figurative exploding, he didn’t literally “explode” or Bonanza would have been over, since one of the main characters and a trained horse would have been dead. Highway to Heaven would never have happened, and he would have been a real angel, if people become angels when they die. Kabbalistic lore says that they don’t, except for Elijah, whose body was carried up to Heaven because it was so refined that it was elevated above physicality and a chariot came fo’ to carry him home.
So stop getting those dangerous lithium batteries, and dammit, get a horse. No “greenhouse gases,” except every once in a while. And an intelligent friend who will take you through rush hour traffic quicker. Little Joe would approve.
"I'm sorry, citizen, because of lithium shortages due to the war in Eastasia, your name will be put on a waiting list for an electric vehicle. Allocations will be based on your social credit score. We will notify you when one becomes available, but until then you may walk or ride a bicycle as long as your papers are in order."
Counterrevolutionaries need not apply.
Saving, to reread later.
