Homes are collapsing on the Florida coast amid Tropical Storm Nicole. Here’s what’s behind the dangerous situation
CNN ^

Posted on 11/10/2022 9:03:56 AM PST by FarCenter

Three main factors are contributing to the dangerous situation on the coast.

Nicole’s storm surge, which peaked at around 6 feet Thursday morning, is significant because of how massive the storm was as it approached Florida on Wednesday, with tropical-storm-force winds stretching for more than 500 miles.

That storm surge pushed ashore on top of exceptionally high tides associated with this week’s full moon.

And behind it all, sea level in this part of Florida has risen more than a foot in the past 100 years, according to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and most of that rise has occurred in the past three decades.

Astonishing the level of ignorance or stupidity these media outlets attribute to their readers/viewers.

So they didn't rise a foot elsewhere in Florida? What's really happened is that pumping of groundwater has lowered the surface level, just like areas around the Chesapeake Bay, which is also suffering post-glacial subsidence.

The sea levels have risen in Florida because the governor is a Republican. With a democRAT, the sea levels would return to normal, as Dear Leader Zer0 instructed the masses.

Sea level has been rising for the past 100 years at an average of 0.5mm per year.

I knew they would lie about the causes and they did. Aside from double jeopardy of high tides coinciding with storm surge, which they mentioned, they completely ignored the known fact of land subsidence and blamed it on melting glaciers and ice sheets.

True - there’s a white planet and a red planet and a yellow planet - but no
planet of color.

“sea level in this part of Florida has risen more than a foot in the past 100 years”
= = =

Maybe the shore has sunk more than a foot . . .

And the sea level has been static.

All those condos are heavy, you know.

Maybe it's because this part of Florida has older homes built in the 1960s and 1970s that are not up to current building codes?

Yep, the sea level has only risen in this area!:

Seems I remember some charlatan running for office on “slowing the rise of the oceans”. Who might that have been? He certainly must have been a Messiah, too bad he didn’t get a chance...say what? Nevermind!

What a crock.

At Key West, sea level has risen 1 foot in 100 years, and it is NOT changing. The big increases in Evil Carbon (CO2) have been in the last 40 or so.

They like to hide this graph:

I was watching the weather channel earlier today. Jim Cantore was positioned at a condo that was getting hit by storm surges. The team had to back off because it became too dangerous. A few hours later the pool deck attached to the multi level condo collapsed. At this point in time the condo is still standing. I am guessing the NIST investigators that are reviewing the Surfside condo collapse will take note of this event...

It is not rising sea levels...

It is building a house on the beach front...

Homes sit in areas that was open space 30 years ago .

Homes sit in areas that were open sea 30 years ago, until sand was dredged to build up a homesite. It's kinda asking for it.
