Democrats tried to outrun history — and the lead weight of a wounded president who made his final political appearance of the campaign in deep-blue Maryland, in a county he won two years ago by an overwhelming margin.
They had help from a surprising quarter: Republican voters. A base still in thrall to former President Donald Trump chose candidates in the primaries who threw out plenty of red meat, but on Election Day, many failed to translate their frustrations into victory.
Here are the lessons of the 2022 midterms so far:
The Democratic base showed up.
The biggest question hanging over Democrats all year was just who, exactly, would show up to vote for them. In a typical midterm election, such as 2010 and 2014, turnout drops by about 20 percentage points from a presidential year.
Abortion put Democrats in the fight.
Throughout much of 2021 and the first half of 2022, Republicans appeared poised for shellacking-level gains in Congress and beyond. Then came the Supreme Court’s bombshell decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, overturning a 50-year precedent that many Americans had taken for granted.
Trump saddled Republicans with weak candidates.
Often, Democrats got the opponents they desired. And the Republican Party leadership was just as often confounded and frustrated by the choices its own voters made.
Inflation dominated, as Democrats grasped for a response.
Again and again, voters told pollsters that soaring prices for gasoline, groceries and housing were their No. 1 concern by far. And Democrats grasped for a clear, consistent response to Republican attacks.
The country is as closely divided as ever.
The chief force in U.S. politics remains its deep partisan divide. There were indeed some ticket-splitters Tuesday, but in general Democrats turned out en masse for Democrats, and Republicans for Republicans.

And the massive fraud of mail in ballots
By showed up - meaning mail-in votes
Mail in votes and rigged voting machines.
They stole the Presidency in 2020 and not one person was held accountable.
If the pattern holds, the dims will make a clean sweep in 2024.

Confessions of a voter fraud: I was a master at fixing mail-in ballots
A top Democratic operative says voter fraud, especially with mail-in ballots, is no myth. And he knows this because he’s been doing it, on a grand scale, for decades.
Mail-in ballots have become the latest flashpoint in the 2020 elections. While President Trump and the GOP warn of widespread manipulation of the absentee vote that will swell with COVID polling restrictions, many Democrats and their media allies have dismissed such concerns as unfounded.
But the political insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he fears prosecution, said fraud is more the rule than the exception. His dirty work has taken him through the weeds of municipal and federal elections in Paterson, Atlantic City, Camden, Newark, Hoboken and Hudson County and his fingerprints can be found in local legislative, mayoral and congressional races across the Garden State. Some of the biggest names and highest office holders in New Jersey have benefited from his tricks, according to campaign records The Post reviewed.
“An election that is swayed by 500 votes, 1,000 votes — it can make a difference,” the tipster said. “It could be enough to flip states.”
The whisteblower — whose identity, rap sheet and long history working as a consultant to various campaigns were confirmed by The Post — says he not only changed ballots himself over the years, but led teams of fraudsters and mentored at least 20 operatives in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania — a critical 2020 swing state.
“There is no race in New Jersey — from city council to United States Senate — that we haven’t worked on,” the tipster said. “I worked on a fire commissioner’s race in Burlington County. The smaller the race, the easier it is to do.”
A Bernie Sanders die-hard with no horse in the presidential race, he said he felt compelled to come forward in the hope that states would act now to fix the glaring security problems present in mail-in ballots.
“This is a real thing,” he said. “And there is going to be a f–king war coming November 3rd over this stuff … If they knew how the sausage was made, they could fix it.”
Mail-in voting can be complicated — tough enough that 84,000 New Yorkers had their mailed votes thrown out in the June 23 Democratic presidential primary for incorrectly filling them out.
But for political pros, they’re a piece of cake. In New Jersey, for example, it begins with a blank mail-in ballot delivered to a registered voter in a large envelope. Inside the packet is a return envelope, a “certificate of mail in voter” which the voter must sign, and the ballot itself.
That’s when the election-rigger springs into action.
The ballot has no specific security features — like a stamp or a watermark — so the insider said he would just make his own ballots.
“I just put [the ballot] through the copy machine and it comes out the same way,” the insider said.
But the return envelopes are “more secure than the ballot. You could never recreate the envelope,” he said. So they had to be collected from real voters.
He would have his operatives fan out, going house to house, convincing voters to let them mail completed ballots on their behalf as a public service. The fraudster and his minions would then take the sealed envelopes home and hold them over boiling water.
“You have to steam it to loosen the glue,” said the insider.
He then would remove the real ballot, place the counterfeit ballot inside the signed certificate, and reseal the envelope.
“Five minutes per ballot tops,” said the insider.
The insider said he took care not to stuff the fake ballots into just a few public mailboxes, but sprinkle them around town. That way he avoided the attention that foiled a sloppy voter-fraud operation in a Paterson, NJ, city council race this year, where 900 ballots were found in just three mailboxes.
“If they had spread them in all different mailboxes, nothing would have happened,” the insider said.
Inside jobs
The tipster said sometimes postal employees are in on the scam.
“You have a postman who is a rabid anti-Trump guy and he’s working in Bedminster or some Republican stronghold … He can take those [filled-out] ballots, and knowing 95% are going to a Republican, he can just throw those in the garbage.”

In some cases, mail carriers were members of his “work crew,” and would sift ballots from the mail and hand them over to the operative.
In 2017, more than 500 mail-in ballots in New York City never arrived to the Board of Elections for races that November — leaving hundreds disenfranchised. They eventually were discovered in April 2018. “For some undetermined reason, some baskets of mail that were bound to the New York City Board of Elections were put off to the side at the Brooklyn processing facility,” city elections boss Michael Ryan said at the time of discovery.
Nursing homes
Hitting up assisted-living facilities and “helping” the elderly fill out their absentee ballots was a gold mine of votes, the insider said.
“There are nursing homes where the nurse is actually a paid operative. And they go room by room by room to these old people who still want to feel like they’re relevant,” said the whistleblower. “[They] literally fill it out for them.”
The insider pointed to former Jersey City Mayor Gerald McCann, who was sued in 2007 after a razor-thin victory for a local school board seat for allegedly tricking “incompetent … and ill” residents of nursing homes into casting ballots for him. McCann denied it, though he did admit to assisting some nursing home residents with absentee ballot applications.
Snip
One take away from this fiasco. There are way more F**K’n idiots out there than we ever imagined. Pathetic! Pretty sure Trump’s endorsements energized/enraged the bidenettes more than anyone would have thought. They hate DeSantis but not as much as Trump. Yet!
Good morning kids. I guess you can say it's one step forward and 99 44/100ths of a step back this morning. While one cannot automatically dismiss the stupidity of the average voter, and for sure we have an alarmingly high percentage of stupid people (the Democrat base has their innate stupidity "fortified" with cult-like, inflexible, brainwashed zealotry), there is just no way in hell a large number of the elections were not tampered with. Seriously, stupidity alone cannot account for a brain damaged goon, whose positions are so abhorrent, repugnant and financially ruinous to the average Pennsylvanian to win that Senate seat.
I have never in my life wanted to be more wrong about anything than to be proven wrong and eat a giant plate of crow than about what I stated yesterday:
. . . I’d be lying to you if I said I wasn’t even slightly concerned about the potential for the now patented and perfected Democrat voting fraud to throw, if not all of the key races that preserve Democrat control over Congress, then at least a few, so as to preserve the official line/meme that “Well, it’s the midterms and 99% of the time the party in power loses control of Congress, but in no way does it mean disaffection/disapproval of our agenda!”
I think it's safe to say that the Democrat cheat machine fouled up more than a few key races. Take a look at the results in states where election security is taken seriously and that the safeguards are generally reliable. QED.
As I also stated yesterday, it took the Democrat-Left (now "fortified" with the GOPe New Deal globalists as co-conspirators) a little over 100 years to essentially nullify the Constitution and get to a point where they are this close (place red pube between thumb and forefinger) to seizing absolute power. Key to that is creating the illusion that despite poverty, crime, misery, global instability via foreign policy cluelessness and general societal dissolution that everything they believe in once implemented has wrought, that they are the good guys who will create paradise on earth. A red wave of the kind that was expected would have exploded that myth perhaps for all time. You really think they're going to allow that to happen via the ballot box? They did it before in 2020 and they will continue to do it again and again.
Free and fair elections are an indicator of a healthy, functioning society and government. It is obvious to anyone who has a slightly higher brain function than Lumpy Festerman and Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants that we do not have that. The rigging or tampering with elections that were the hallmark of individuals like Richard Daley and LBJ goes beyond merely preserving a criminal enterprise that abused elective office for profit. Even with the Biden Crime Family, which ultimately involved jeopardizing our own national security by selling us out to corrupt foreign governments as well as global rivals and enemies, it was not ideological (Biden's brain is mush so the shit he spouts is coming from the mind of scum like Obama and Jon Meacham).
Not so today, at least not in the main. Top to bottom, those who are rigging these elections are the true believers that Eric Hoffer warned us about. Their hatred for us has been so ingrained, and their minds are so warped, that the rigging of elections and the subversion of our rights are seen as patriotic acts to preserve that by their own actions are destroying. "We have to destroy the Constitution to preserve it." That was the nub of Molly Ball's horrific admission and boasting about how the entire Deep State and media propaganda complex came together to sabotage and ultimately steal the 2020 election.
Psaki psircling back to yesterday, Mollie Hemingway back in June warned us that something was afoot.
[So-called quote-unquote "president"] Biden really does not want the public to know about his federal takeover of election administration. Dozens of members of Congress have repeatedly asked for details, to no avail. Good government groups, members of the media, and private citizens have filed requests under the Freedom of Information Act. Not a single one has been responded to. All signs indicate a concerted effort to keep the public in the dark until at least after the November midterm elections. The lack of transparency and responsiveness is so bad that the Department of Justice and some of its agencies have been repeatedly sued for the information.
When [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Biden ordered all 600 federal agencies to “expand citizens’ opportunities to register to vote and to obtain information about, and participate in, the electoral process” on March 7, 2021, Republican politicians, Constitutional scholars, and election integrity specialists began to worry exactly what was up his sleeve. They had good reason. The 2020 election had suffered from widespread and coordinated efforts by Democrat activists and donors to run “Get Out The Vote” operations from inside state and local government election offices, predominantly in the Democrat-leaning areas of swing states. Independent researchers have shown the effect of this takeover of government election offices was extremely partisan and favored Democrats overwhelmingly.
At the time the order was issued, Democrats were also hoping to pass H.R. 1, a continuation of the effort to destabilize elections throughout the country via a federalized takeover of state election administrations.
Biden gave each agency 200 days to file their plans for approval by none other than Susan Rice, his hyperpartisan domestic policy advisor. Yet fully nine months after those plans were due, they are all being hidden from the public, even as evidence is emerging that the election operation is in full swing. . .
. . . It is unclear why Biden and his political appointees are being so secretive about the work that went into their plan to engage in a federal takeover of election administration.
Whatever the case, Americans have a right to know whether these bureaucracies that are meddling in elections have experts in for each state’s election laws, what type of training is going on to ensure that state laws are being followed, whether they are allowing inspections and oversight to ensure no illegal activity, how they are determining whether a third-party group is genuinely non-partisan, whether they are allowing state investigators to approve money, and how much is being spent on this federal takeover of elections.
I would hope Mollie Hemingway was being sarcastic vis a vis that emphasized sentence. In any case, starting with the horrendous "motor voter laws" dating back to the Clinton years, there has been a concerted and sustained effort to thoroughly degrade election integrity in the intervening years climaxing with the "crisis they couldn't let go to waste" of the General Tso's Sickness pandemic. No voter ID requirements. Mail-in ballots for everyone without any requirement for postmarks or verification of who cast them. Same day registration. Illegal aliens and foreigners being given the vote. Ballot harvesting. Poll watchers forcibly removed from ballot tabulation centers. The unprecedented halting of vote counts in key swing districts and states. And on and on and on. And of course, even before the pandemic, electronic voting machines that are connected to the internet and must be "programmed."
“Electronic voting machines didn’t allow people to vote apparently. And that, whatever you think of it, the cause of it, it shakes people’s faith in the system. That is an actual threat to democracy,” Carlson continued.
Republican gubernatorial candidates blasted Maricopa County over the malfunctions, saying, “I hope it isn’t malice” before vowing to fix Arizona’s election system if elected. Former President Donald Trump narrowly lost Arizona in the 2020 election, a result confirmed by a report by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.“We’re not really very serious about democracy if we’re using electronic voting machines, or for not requiring photo ID to vote. We could have secure elections, we don’t because a small number of people don’t want them,” Carlson said. “But until we do, you’re going to have these moments where everybody in the country fears volatility, because one side doesn’t believe the result is real. And you’ve seen it on both sides. You saw it yesterday, Democrats suggesting that electronic voting machines could be hacked. Democrats. This ran in Politico. So, it’s not just the crazy right, it’s that everybody is losing faith in the system itself.”
We are a fundamentally unserious nation and in point of fact will remain a banana republic unless and until electronic voting machines are abolished, absentee ballots are limited only to military personnel stationed overseas, voting is limited to one day only, no same day registrations, voter ID at the polls, motor voter et al is abolished, voter rolls are purged every few years and many other things I'm leaving out.
One US citizen who is registered and legally qualified to vote can cast a ballot.
I'm also of the mind that anyone who violates the integrity of the franchise should face the death penalty. When you mess with the franchise, you are committing a treasonous, terroristic act. At least that's my opinion. YMMV.
Of course all of this presupposes that the American governmental and political systems at the national and local levels rights itself, comes to its senses and passes these laws. It also presupposes that we have a national consensus across the political divide to to do this. Well, suffice it to say that, here too, we have neither and we are approaching a point in our history where we do not even have a nation. That lets me segue into the "positive" spin I have going forward. That word is in quotes for a reason.
I think the polls were right all along. I think the Democrats should have been wiped out all over the place and that's because I think they lost a ton of their usually reliable constituents because of the disaster of the past two years inflicted on the latter by the former. Now, they too who perhaps accused us of sour grapes two years ago have had their eyes opened. If you think the past two years were hell, you ain't seen nothing yet, my friends.
When people start running out of food, fuel, shelter and clothing as well as the money to buy whatever meager stockpiles we have left of them, watch out. That is exactly where we are headed, on course to become the Haiti of Yugoslavias.
We simply cannot go on like this. It really is us or them. That said, I still believe that societally and politically we have undergone a sea change, regardless of what happened yesterday. Misery loves company and our ranks I predict will grow appreciably larger in that light. So at least there's that.
This is an issue. But hey, we gotta move on /sarc
MASSIVE
And the massive fraud of mail in ballots
You means "The suspected massive fraud of mail-in ballots". We need proof. The existing government turns a blind eye to the prospect that election fraud is happening...worse when they are part of the problem. Our "betters" don't look for it. Our "betters" don't learn the lessons our banks have known for many, many years about loss prevention.
We have had people TELL US they are participating in election fraud. Busing fraudulent voters. Mining old people's homes for ballots. Employees of the United States Post Office diverting ballots, tossing ballots in the trash, or otherwise manipulating mail-in ballots.
How about editors in the media who refuse to publish or broadcast stories that cross their desk? Reporters who ignore what they learn? How about Courts that refuse to accept cases so they can be tried in the traditional manner?
The individual voter can do only so much.
Kathy Hochul ONLY won 12 counties [21%] in NY State. She is Governor of NY City and Buffalo. The crooked corrupt Demo machine in the big cities fixed the election.
Just to mention that you become labeled as an "Election denier" even by so-called "conservative" media, and as such you may become the target of the Deep State - IRS (87,000 new and ARMED agents), FBI Gestapo, DOJ, etc.
“The Democratic base showed up” because of all the bragging by the right of an incoming red tsunami.
Alert your enemy is not the best tactic. Got their backs up, they came out and voted.
If you dare suggest fraud played a role you will be ridiculed or Swatted.
There are know exercises by which a student could and would pick up on this sentence I just wrote.
Re no red sunnami!
Maybe the answer is simple math and reality:
Thousands of good conservative voters have moved/swarmed into Florida and a few other good Red states from democrat stronghold states in the past 2 years.
They left behind an even larger liberal majority of dem voters, scum, who have voted for dems all of their life or since departing from life in those demcRAT states.
So, the really scummy liberal states like: NY, PA, Ill., Minn., Ca. Or., Wa., and Wisconsin are even more liberal after their good conservatives left for states like Florida.
This made stealing votes or manufacturing them even more effective in the longtime DemocRAT states.
The GOP failed to offer a vision and goals an accomplishments on which to build. It can be traced back to the McConnell/Ryan Congress when they did nothing, accomplished nothing and hurt their President. Who wants to vote for that????
Give the Dems credit, they do stuff for their voters.
The democrat base will never fail to turn out now, with drop boxes and universal mail-in balloting.
It’s always been the rats’ dream - put a ballot in every bum, 18 yr old, and illegal alien’s hand.
Imagine people pleading with us that our stance against human slavery cost us the election.
Or our stance against concentration camps for undesireables.
I will stand. Against the murder of innocent children. If NO ONE ELSE ever votes with me. It is not just a “political issue.” It is killing 2000 people a day. The smallest of kids.
And, plenty of strongly pro life candidates won. Across the country. See lifesite.news
