There’s no linguistic basis for that claim.
The ancient Romans called Spain “Hispania.”
Now the island comprising Haiti (French) and the Dominican Republic (Spanish) is “Hispaniola.”
I suppose Mestizo would describe such a person.
Mestizo is the proper term for someone Spanish and Native American. I’m a Mestizo-the only folks who are not are those who have pure Spanish blood-and that is unlikely, unless your ancestors just got off the plane from Spain and only bred with someone fresh from Spain-otherwise, they are as mestizo as the rest of us...
