I remember the same message when AIDS first appeared. Yes, it was first called ‘gay cancer’ and yes all of the victims were gay men (and the unfortunate hemophilia suffers who got it from gay-men’s donated blood) but we were shown with ‘geometric logic’ that AIDS would spread throughout the population within a few years. We all were required to care.

A friend of my Mother got HIV from tainted blood supply in 1983 or 84. She was in her early forties at the time. Just had a surgery.
