After Italy surrendered to the Allies in September of 1943, Germany treated their former Italian allies as POWs and sent them to labor camps. Italian officers were shot as traitors. It was a while back now, but I bet some Italians still remember.
Yea. Not old enough to remember when they were out the side of the Nazis when things were going good. What a convenient argument for the situation today.
