TATP is supposed to be some wicked stuff.
Acetone and Peroxide.
I’d never cook any myself, I enjoy having functional hands and eyes.

Hmm...FIB giving public demonstrations on bomb building can’t possibly go wrong.FedGov has a history of doing stupid things with dangerous objects. Maybe they will get the ATF to "walk" some of these homemade explosive devices across the border to the Mexican cartels ala Operation Fast and Furious, where they can be put to use blowing up innocent Mexicans.

When I was a teenager, the ATF had not pussy-hatted fireworks, and real m-80s cherry bombs and the like were available. No need to make your own. On of the treats was to take something called an aerial bomb (even in the smaller sizes consisted of a wood base a launch tube and a bigass firecracker with at least 5 times the flash powder of a cherry bomb) and fire it more or less horizontally at your target of choice. They came in various sizes, but I could never afford any of the really big ones (I wonder why I have hearing difficulties these days?)

Back when I was growing up, a kid could still blow himself up without it being a big deal (except for the time spent in the emergency room, of course) My poor mother.

Using those store bought bangers seemed like cheating to me.
I suppose I wanted to be more a chef than a cook. It was just no fun if I couldn’t make it from scratch.

Yeah, when I told Grandpa I was making a still, he just told me not to blow myself up.
It was a real eye burner when I accidentally lit off some sulfur in my bedroom. Mom did not see the humor in it.

Next thing they will outlaw the Periodic Table and monitor everyone that received an A grade in Chemistry.

We would have gotten along well together. I blew the windows out of my bedroom when I was 14. Blew my thumb off too. They did a great job getting it back on again and working. It was just an attempt at a homemade skyrocket gone bad. I’ll bet the sulfur in your bedroom was not the worst of it. :)

I think we might have.
I never lost any limbs or dangling bits, but I do still have a few scars from acid burns and there was some furniture that was never quite the same.

“I think the H2O2 for bleaching hair is about 6% (as opposed to the 3% antiseptic kind). “
The H202 sold in hair salon supply shops is 35%.
Look up TATP Tri-Acetone Tri-Peroxide aka Daughter of Satan. It was used in the London bombings post 9/11. Very powerful and very unstable.
A good way loose your life unless very careful.
