Anyone who pays attention to the history of Leftism knows that elimination of opposing views (and ultimately, the people who hold them if they refuse to refudiate them) is always on their road to serfdom.
It all comes down to “Conform or Die.”
As someone has said, it’s information warfare and the Dems know how to play it. We’re a little behind on that front and need to catch up.
Winston Smith in “1984” knew in his mind that Eastasia was not always at war with Oceania but couldn’t open his mouth about it or he’d be liquidated. Whatever the Party said that morning was the truth, nothing else. I love the irony that his job and income depended on him tossing the truth about things down the memory hole. In the end they got into his mind and forced him to love Big Brother. That book is so prophetic.
And with the Left’s history of socialist governments it is also “conform then die”.
