RSV will do the killing but now may have the variant producing power of the flu. And the flu portion may allow RSV to effects adults as much as the flu does.
We shall see.
Adults can get RSV pretty easily from what I understand. I guess it is generally not as bad symptom-wise for most. Young children and elderly seem to be more prone to bad outcomes (as are those with heart/lung issues and those that are immunocompromised).
Of course it can spread to the lower respiratory tract causing pneumonia or bronchiolitis. I know quite a few people that had common cold symptoms and ended up with pneumonia in the last few months.
I recently had a nasty cold that lasted about 8 days and am still hacking stuff up a few weeks post that.
