Battleground Nevada: It All Comes Down to This County That's Been Thrashed by Biden's Agenda

Nevada could be one of the states that Republicans pick up in 2022. Democrats have let this one slip away, with incumbent Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto in danger of losing her seat to Republican Adam Laxalt. The last string of polls has Laxalt either in the lead or trailing by two, but the most damning sign that Masto could be updating her resume soon is the liberal poll from Data for Progress showing Laxalt in the lead by one point. When Democratic polls can’t hide the danger, you know the situation is terrible, and the momentum is with the GOP in the final days of the 2022 elections.

With teachers’ unions in Clark County withholding support in the gubernatorial race, incumbent Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak is threatened. So, all eyes on are Washoe County, which could decide how Nevada goes on election night. Regarding Democratic and Republican Party registrations, the county is virtually split, but it’s also chock full of “nonpartisans,” which Democrats need to nab to avoid disaster.

Yet, even in Washoe, it’s a tough sell for Democrats since residents here have been shellacked by the rising costs of gas and groceries. Inflation came down like a sledgehammer, and even voters here know things, like the price of gas, didn’t go up until Biden was president. It’s the “sleeper county” to track (via NBC News):

I'm afraid my mother is one of them. There's no reasoning with her.

Baloney. It all comes down to Clark, even more than Illinois is Cook County or New York is NYC.

I like Washoe county—my parent’s honeymooned there, and IIRC my Dad’s ship served alongsige the Washoe County—but this article is B.S.

Clark county is 2.3 million. The rest of Nevada is less than a million. Washoe does hold more than half of the rest of the population—the other 15 counties only matter extremely marginally, but Washoe itself only matters marginally.

Clark County only has 70% of the state votes because they have allowed ILLEGALS working in the hotels/casinos to register & vote.

Have done that for YEARS. Casinos even bus them to the polls.

You may notice I did mention the % of votes out of Clark county. But, we did get an odd campaign flyer yesterday from the culinary union NOT endorsing cat mantoes. Weird, but gives me some hope. And like the demokkkommies recommend, “Vote early, vote often!’. 😎👍

Now that you point it out, you did note that.

However, as well as being against the rules to read the article on which you are posting, isn’t it frowned upon to read the first post when responding to the headline (which is all anyone really should ever read and respond to)?

Thanks for the article though-—it does give hope.

Yes, gas is high, peaked at $6.99 and now down to highest location around $6.29. Most in the area are $5.25-5.50. Cheaper in Carson City ($4.75-5.00) and Winnemucca in $4.00-4.25 range the other day.

Problem is we have been invaded from California. Also, coming with that or because of that, we have thousands of homeless on streets, in camps, and living in their cars. The city is a filthy mess.

The local Democrat socialist mayor is running for third term. Barely campaigning, no signs even. She disappeared during COVID and hasn't returned. The Republican opponent, Eddie Lorton may not have the polish to win but he does have signs everywhere, seems to have support. Hard to tell.

Will enough people open their eyes, vote Republican?

And we have three constitutional amendments that are even bigger risk. Amendment 1 gives boys and men's constitutional right to participate in women's sports, locker rooms, and bathrooms. Amendment 2 gives constitutional right to minimum wage instead of leaving it to the legislature to set. And amendment 3 implements the ranked choice voting scam as a constitutional "right".

She, hilarity, didn’t go to the debate with Eddie. Guess she’s counting on her mid town lib supporters.

In fairness, I do usually at least skim the portion of the article that is posted in that sometimes the people who have composed the headline seem to have done so without having read the article itself, so one can be on shaky grounds if one only reads the headline before beginning to pontificate.

Washoe County includes Reno and Sparks (including the University of Nevada at Reno with more than 20,000 students). It extends from Lake Tahoe to the Oregon border.
