Let me tell you how the big boys do it on Wall Street. The have security escort you out and your “box” is packed by HR or a co-worker and sent to your home later. No taking “personal belongings”, sending goodbye emails, or even speaking to your co-workers. You are fully de-platformed.

At certain levels/positions even big companies do the same thing. And then they do a forensic audit of your computer activity to make sure you hadn’t been making “back-up” copies or sending large zip files to yourself at home. I know of one case for my former Fortune 100 employer pursued criminal charges against a laid-off employee who had been sending copies of proprietary information using an encrypted remailer in anticipation of being laid-off.

that’s exactly the way they did it at a company i worked at (contract) in Jacksonville, Fl.

Sit there doing your job, security shows up, tells you to log off the computer, get your purse (if female) and car keys. Just grab your keys if male. Leave everything, including family photos on the desk, don’t touch anything, and HR would pack your stuff.
