Forty years ago, it was still possible to call the Soviet Union an “evil empire” as if the US were not one.
But the Berlin Wall came down not because freedom won but because it was no longer needed. Socialism won, and the remaining question was which faction of the left should dominate.
US foreign policy since then has been in service of the globalist (transnational progressive corporatist) left. Like leftists throughout history, the greatest enemies of the US are variant leftist regimes (e.g., Russia).

Sadly many here DO NOT realize that. They live in the past when the Soviet Union was forcing horrible social and economic systems on countries, and we were offering freedom.
Now it’s flipped with us forcing horrible social systems (Grooming, Sex Changes, etc.) and horrible economic systems (Green New Deal, no more carbon-based fuels, etc.), while the Russians are offering freedom (in the sense of saying they don’t care what their customers do internally).
After all, there’s a reason why 87% of the world has NOT imposed sanctions on Russia.
