What could go wrong?
.
Although in principle a school bus will burn just as well.
...and the kids still won’t be able to read.
I can only imagine winters in upstate New York and seeing thousands of students waiting on the side of the road for their discharged school busses.
This is not only a total waste of the taxpayers money it also dangerous for the health and welfare of these students that depend on school busses to get them to school.
How well to electric batteries work in freezing Upper New York?
About three years ago, the city of Trier, Germany got their first E-Bus, and after a good charge-up...they sent it out on day one (mid-winter arrival). About 30 minutes into the route, the driver called up and said he’d have to halt the route because the bus had already hit 30-percent point on remaining power.
So what they discovered is that keeping the bus ‘warm’ in freezing temperatures consumed a vast amount of power. Manufacture folks came in and spent several weeks reviewing the problem...never saying what the resolution was. My humble belief is that they cut the heat production for the interior by 50-percent.
That’s what I’m afraid of also. Would have the “Hindenburg” effect on electric school bus fantasies. Wait till they have driverless school buses.
Will it be a magic bus? 😀 🤪
buses stuck with your children on them in single digit weather no heat
Best part: theres a dire school bus driver shortage. You can guess why.
Will these new buses drive themselves...?
Everyone of the politicians involved in this boondoggle of buying lousy electric buses has stock in the bus company or is involved with this bus company which makes lousy school buses, check with Canada where they have problems with these buses from this company,it’s a scam
‘It’s going to be millions’: Central Square hits pause on purchasing electric school buses
Update from Upstate...
Note to teachers: When there’s less cash for your cadillac health bennnies and insanely generous pensions, well, welcome to real life. Now you know how the people paying for you feel.
We have them and they get parked when it gets really cold
A Quick Look at the internet suggests that these buses cost twice what a typical school bus would cost.
