You’re dealing with Russians. They don’t use logic like people in the West do. They can believe two simultaneously contradictory ideas in their heads at the same time without a problem. They practice that almost from birth.
Imagine if 9/11 happened today. Some of these people would probably side with Al-Qaeda.
